Since 2003 the group started to regularly perform experiments below 1 K and down to 40 mK in this laboratory. The new research focuses primarily on the symmetry and structure of the order parameter in novel superconductors. To probe the energy gap or order parameter of superconductors the magnetic penetration depth is measured with very high precision. This quantity is an electrodynamic variable that has proven to be very fundamental in the study of novel superconductors. Since 2016 the group carries out experiments at pressures up to 3 GPa and temperatures down to 200 mK (40 mK at ambient pressure).

This is an experimental condensed matter physics group working at the Low Temperature Laboratory, Center for Physics, at the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC). The laboratory was administratively established in August 1964 and started research activity in January 1965. This is one of the oldest research laboratories in Venezuela.
